How this site is built.

Anyone can claim a site is well-built. This page is the receipt: the framework, the hosting bill, the tests — all of it, in the open. If I'm going to say the work meets a standard, the standard should be inspectable.

The stack

  • Astro 6 — Static output. Every page is pre-rendered HTML; there is no server runtime handling requests.
  • Tailwind CSS 4 — CSS-first config via the Vite plugin, with dark/light theming, a theme-reactive logo and favicon, and view transitions between pages.
  • MDX content collections — Posts and case studies are MDX files in the git repo, validated against Zod schemas at build time, so a malformed post fails the build instead of shipping.
  • Cloudflare Pages — Static hosting. Total cost: $0.00/month.
  • A Cloudflare Pages Function — Runs the contact form: input validation, a honeypot field plus rate limiting, delivery via Resend — no third-party form service.
  • Fuse.js — Real client-side fuzzy search behind the ⌘K / Ctrl-K palette, over an index generated at build time. Not a decoration — it works in the browser.
  • JSON-LD + sitemap + RSS + llms.txt — Structured data (Person, Article, BreadcrumbList, Blog) linked by a shared @id graph, plus machine-readable indexes for search engines and AI assistants.
  • Vanity redirects — Short links like /github and /linkedin are generated at build time from a single platform data file.
  • Playwright + astro check — An end-to-end suite drives the real, rendered pages — every route, plus search, theme, accessibility, and the contact form — with full type-checking on every build.

Git as the database

There is no CMS, no admin panel, no database. A post is an MDX file; a case study is an MDX file — both live in the same git repo as the code, versioned the same way, reviewed the same way. Content collections are typed with Zod, so a malformed frontmatter field fails the build instead of shipping a broken page.

$0 a month, on purpose

Total operational cost is $0.00/month. It is static output on Cloudflare Pages’ free tier — no server to provision, patch, or pay for. The one dynamic piece, the contact form, runs as a Cloudflare Pages Function: no server bill and no third-party form service for something this small.

Built to be read by machines too

There is a /llms.txt — a plain-text bio, skills, and content index — so an AI assistant asked “who is Forhad Khan” has accurate, first-party data to answer from instead of guessing. Every page also carries JSON-LD tied together by a shared @id graph, plus an auto-generated sitemap and RSS feed. Search engines and language models get the same facts a person reading the page would.

It’s tested

A Playwright suite runs end-to-end against the real, rendered pages — not mocks — covering every route plus the parts that quietly break: the ⌘K search, the theme toggle, JSON-LD, and the contact form’s validation and honeypot. astro check type-checks the whole site on every build. Lighthouse scored 100 across all four categories the last time it was measured.

The proof, elsewhere

This site's own repo is private, so there's no source link on this page — but the same standards apply to the code that is public: ProductBay and CartBay are live on WordPress.org, and LiveMarkup and LiveMarkdown are open on GitHub. Go read the source.
